Mid Century ‘Z Chair:

Black Walnut

"My wife and I purchased a home at the start of the pandemic. Comfortable with DIY projects around the home but developed a passion for woodworking out of necessity when building out an office during the stay-at-home order. This chair was my first foray using Black Walnut – a beautifully dark, domestic hardwood. It was particularly exciting to source the wood from a true lumber supplier that stocks specialty hardwoods.
The mid-century aesthetic matches our home décor and it was also just good timing to work in the garage on an especially difficult project between Christmas and New Year’s. It certainly takes an old soul to enjoy the challenge and accuracy woodworking demands but after the hours of detailed work, the end result is especially rewarding.
